This plan offers a private dining experience inside the Katakura Clan Samurai Residence, a historic home with over 300 years of history. Guests will enjoy a special Shiroishi Umen premium course prepared by Yamabuki-tei, renowned for serving passengers aboard JR East’s luxury train, Train Suite Shiki-shima.
The course features the finest hand-stretched Shiroishi Umen, paired with specially crafted broths and soups, along with a variety of innovative dishes made with Umen noodles and seasonal ingredients from the Zao region. Refreshing juices made with Shiroishi’s pure spring water and high-quality local fruits further elevate this luxurious dining experience.
The setting—the Katakura Clan Samurai Residence—is a rare surviving samurai home from the Edo period (17th century). With its irori (traditional hearth), the clear waters of the Sawabata River (once part of Shiroishi Castle’s outer moat), and garden trees along the riverbank, it offers a serene and atmospheric environment. This residence even appeared in a JR East Adults’ Holiday Club poster featuring actress Sayuri Yoshinaga, and is regarded as a hidden cultural gem.
